The worst part about this job was some of the members that would not respect the rules or the vehicles and then fight with you, and at times be extremely rude, we had a store front location so we would have people walking in off the street. The team I worked with were great and the management was supportive and helpful.

What is the best part of working at the company?At this point in time there is no best part. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Manager is ego driven. You can tell he really doesn't know anything and rely's on subordinates for information that he should know. Job is actually pretty stressful when it doesn't need to be. No shortage of wasted time and redundancy. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Work environment is fine amongst coworkers that are on the same pay level. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Easy going. Alot of driving depending if you are going from one side of .A to the other.

20+ year company that still functions as a start-up

Zipcar was founded in 2000 and still somehow is functioning like a startup. The product is full of bugs on the internal side, and is complicated to use on the member side. It's very clear that there are hierarchies at play at this company, and if you're at the bottom (member services) good luck being heard and rewarded. I've have my work or discoveries attributed to other teams multiple times and been given zero recognition for my hard work. I feel like people go out of their way to avoid communicating with other teams. Trying to get information out of other teams is like pulling teeth. The leadership team, and the CEO specifically, say they care about the member experience but all they actually care about is money. Even if that impacts our members, they don't actually care. If you notice a bug or issue with an internal product, it can take months to have it addressed because it may only affect a couple of members. It's infuriating. It's also very difficult to advance in this company, as they seems to prefer outside hires (even if leadership says they don't). There are constant hiring freezes despite most teams being severely understaffed. Trying to get a raise is almost impossible as the company likes to act like it doesn't have any money.Positively, I have had 3 managers during my time here and they have all been great. I feel very lucky to have a great team who respects me and cares about me. I just do not feel like the rest of the company does at all. If you're an engineer or in marketing, you'll be fine here. Anything in member services, don't bother. -

Cool laid back environment

Very relaxed and the least stressful place I’ve ever worked . There is constant change though so be patient. Management has an open door policy and will hear you out! May not always work in your favor but they listen

Fun workplace with great people

I loved working at Zipcar and made many lifelong friends during my time there. Bosses were transparent and genuinely kind and helpful. It was an overall position work environment.

Good culture

Good culture, nice people and opportunity for overtime. Nice office. Training could have been more supportive. Benefits could have been better for staff vehicle hire.

No job security; fair pay; horrible communication; they hired so many people and allowed them to clock in and fired them without any type of notice. I felt horrible for those people.

I got hired through a third-party with the zip car management. The job is pretty easy as long as you knew what you were doing, Physical, demanding work moving signs Across from one side of the city, to the other side of the city to his storage locations, where they store all the Zipcar signs and delivered to its destination

Fun and beneficial

It’s a fun and enjoyable environment! Once there’s a shortage of staff , it will affect your daily operation from 30% -97% . It’s all about time management and being knowledgeable while following the company SOP’s .. Company has allot of benefits and will offer major discounts for staffs during week days . The coordinators /managers work from home and while the fleet associates work on the cars for members .

Not the best or ideal workplace

Depends on your work group. Overall, the pay is trash unless you’re a Manager or higher up. Prepare yourself for stress - micro management (Brooklyn/Queens Zone) - not ideal staff.

This job was cool at first but they don't communicate well and will lie to you any chance they get. I have very few positives to give this company other then the freedom of not having someone next to you all day

Fun job need to pay fleet associates more especially in today’s climate of inflation schedule is good work life can be good. Hard time leveling up to management

Not worth it.

Been with Zipcar for over 6 months. One of the worst employers I’ve ever worked for. Pay is terrible for FA’s, the computer jocks get paid better and don’t do ANYTHING. Coordination is a nightmare and management is inconsiderate and stuck up. Would NOT recommend associating with Zipcar.

Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for work

I worked for this company pre pandemic and during the height of the initial pandemic and it was nothing but awful. I was hired on as an “fleet associate” but due to the cars I was responsible for being in another state I was basically left to also coordinate and manage the fleet by myself with no help, and little pay. I rarely had any interaction with co workers or my supervisor, any time I had issues or concerns that I would bring up to them, including the vehicles not being serviced properly, I was ignored. Once Covid hit, it wasn’t until right before I was laid off that I received any PPE from the company and they did practically nothing to keep me safe from the virus. Instead if I had any overtime my manager would edit my time card and remove it.

Stressful

This place was very stressful. No one said anything to each other. You had to give an ultimatum to get a raise because this company is such a joke. Everyone is everywhere.

De escándalo.

Es una empresa en la que te tratan como un empleado más, en lo absoluto les importa como te vaya como persona.Sus jornadas laborales son de 9 horas, las horas extra no las pagan bien, te descuentan de tu salario por ausencia o retardos, en incumplimiento de la ley laboral.No te dan seguro médico, su liquidación no es acorde al tiempo laborado, jamás me pagaron mi PTU.

Look Elsewhere

They still operate as if they're learning as they go and they make things up as they go along too. They don't tell you things are wrong until they decide it doesn't fit their agenda. HR is pretty much useless and do everything in the best interest of leadership. They were doing so much penny pinching that they were firing people and auditing time sheets as if they weren't the ones that approved them every pay period. I was harassed because of their anxiety about money. They tried to follow every move I made in order to justify not paying me what I was owed. The regional director even tampered with the vehicle remotely while I was driving it. 0/10 wouldn't recommend.

Productive

Great job for anyone, structure could be a Lil different on completing task..Having jobs delivered in a timely fashion could help. Incentives for certain things could benefit employees. Ie the charge you charge others for violations, the FA correct, should see some type of bonus towards pay etc.

Suck-y Company

Zipcar will drain the life out of you & will reward you with “a shoutout” . Little to no room for improvement or promotions. They hire from outside the company. Sh**y raises are given. As long as the work gets done, management doesn’t really care about their employees. & honestly they don’t care about their customers either. Much needed repairs for their vehicles are often put off until the very last minute, cars are cleaned about once every 2 weeks, they have MULTIPLE VEHICLES WITH EXPIRED REGISTRATION & INSURANCE INFO. Just a major hot mess.

Modern Tech Company

Forward thinking company and tech. Helpdesk atmosphere is chaotic, with arbitrary communication and enforcement of said tools. Expect to do the work of 2-5 other people, and be lambasted with passive aggressiveness when seeking guidance on complicated issues.
