Great in theory, failing in execution
Working at the YMCA pool in North Port (now closed) meant dealing with a new problem every single day. Whether it was regarding scheduling and employees not showing up, issues with the pool maintenance, or management yelling about all the things that were constantly being done wrong, it was a constant struggle. I genuinely enjoyed my actual job because I was able to get to know the patrons who came to swim regularly by name, and interacting with them was usually easy and fun. But the second the higher-up managers came in everyone always went running to hide. They were constantly rude, had little to no communication with the main regional office, and had very high expectations while giving people barely any actual training. I've had bad managers before but working there was next-level exhausting because of all the stress and the fact that no one was ever willing to take accountability and instead put way too much work on those who were not even in salaried positions.
poor benefits, long hours, terrible pay, awful management
