It was a great place. My boss for the cleaning division was super. Only one girl who worked the front desk was extremely rude. Worked steady days. Was praised highly even was offered full time paid position which I couldn’t take due to the fact I knew I was moving out of town.
Relaxed as long as you did what needed to be done.Guests were so nice.
One miserable front lady.
I gave up a permanent roll in a job i loved at making space to start here because I needed more hours. They let me start without my dbs check because I was waiting on my provisional because there system won't except birth certificates. And told me my job was safe 4 weeks down the line they gave me 4 more days for it to arrive.before they should sack me! Management in st Helens YMCA is diabolical
-Follow list of cleaning tasks that is impossible to complete due to insufficient time, materials, training. -How to prioritize. -Never met the manager, met the supervisor twice. -Loan worker. -Work at night. -No pressure or stress.
Night weekend shifts
i had no issues while volunteering at the YMCA. this job offered me a great learning opportunity while working for a great cause. However i do feel that management need more recognition for the hard work they put in.
Maintenance supervisor at that time he likes to rob people of their job cuz he posted hours wrongfully and then he turns around and lies that you were posed to be working at this in such a day when the schedule that had posted was correct on the hours that you were working and I do believe I reported him to the CEO and I do believe he's no longer working for wrongfully dismissing missing me from my job when I was in the right
The YMCA is an okay place to work. The branch I worked in was very small and in turn made my job very slow. The manager that hired me was fantastic and ran the branch perfectly, however she resigned halfway through my employment. Her replacement had no idea what she was doing and drove the branch straight into the ground. We never had enough supplies, scheduling was a mess, and her poor management led to me leaving my position.
Working for the YMCA was a challenge and fun at times . You get to meet all kinds of cultural people and they are learning disabilities friendly environment workplace to work for
Free membership, learning something new and positive feed back and they help with not aganist you
Job security is only protected by seniorty not by work eithic
I cleaned change rooms, washrooms, a gymnasium, racquetball courts, fitness areas and multi-purpose rooms. I also washed, dried, and folded towels. I worked with great people and one of the people I met became a friend and later became my husband. The hardest part of the job was working as a night cleaner while I was pregnant with my daughter due to the work being physically demanding - it was difficult to bend over towards the end - and some fatigue issues. When I came back to work after maternity leave it seems like I was always tired also from being up with the baby etc...That was the biggest challenge but that should in no way reflect badly on the job or the facility - it was not their fault. I always like cleaning/laundry jobs and this was the third cleaning/laundry job that I did. I worked for two summer camps prior cleaning washrooms, cabins, and rec halls, doing a variety of other maintenance tasks as required and doing camper, staff, and kitchen laundry. I really enjoy both cleaning and laundry - I can tangibly see the progress I make, I take pride in doing it well, and it is not mentally/emotionally draining.
One of my favorite and most rewarding jobs. I was very happy there for many many years. I learned a lot and I felt like the staff and organization was very supportive to the employees and clients as well.
Started out as a cleaner and was promoted to supervisor after 3 years. The site manger taught me how to prepare the payroll, order supplies and deal with employee issues through weekly and impromptu meeting. A very satisfying job with great pay and benefits. People were supportive and appreciative. Hardest part of the job was payroll and employee disciplining. The best part of the job was receiving compliments from the various department heads and customer on the quality and level of cleanliness of the site it meant that I was an effective supervisor and leader of my team.
Free membership for me and my husband
As supervisor was responsible for 3 shifts, Had to replace sick workers, had to work if no replacement found.
