I am a Fitness Instructor and I love it working for the YMCA is an honor and teaching people about fitness and nutrition is fun and exciting teaching water exercise is very appealing and structural, love teaching senior and helping then whenever needed
being notice for my great teaching abilities
I don't get enough hours due to the fact so many instructors
I enjoy working at a place with many healthy and fit employees! Not the best salary but good benefits. Only thing is the price for employees to use the daycare is higher than it should be for hourly workers.
Been teaching at a YMCA Managed centre for the past 6 years. As a group fitness instructor I also teach at other gym facilities and the Y where I teach, in my opinion, is by far the best place to work. It's all inclusive and the management actually take the time to get to know their staff. My boss has a rapport with his whole team like no-one I have seen before. It's a shame we may all not be working there anymore after a new management company is about to take over.
Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions. Accepts and demonstrates the aus values. Demonstrates s desire to serve others and full fill community needs.
Resistant to change and the pay is laughable. High-quality employees are over-worked and burn out after 5 years. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere you are appreciated and utilized effectively.
This position was low pay. There was favoritism for promotion and there were no standards for how things were done. You are looked down upon if you aren't Christian or if you don't want to volunteer endless hours.
love my job and the people I work with(members) are great. It is a great way to help those who don't know how to exercise correctly do so without hurting them selves. it is also a way to meet people who can give you the social aspect that is sometimes missing in other gyms
great place to work out and get payed to do it. it changes peoples lives
i wished there where more full time employment opportunitues
I enjoyed my time working at the Y. I had a good workout class in the 80's. Lots of fun and great people. Exercise is so beneficial for you. You are burning calories and building strength and meeting new people and making new friends.
