A typical day as an intern/camp counselor, consisted of me creating a safe environment for the children to grow and meet new people. Knowingly sending parents off with the validity that their child would have the best summer participating in different day-to-day activities. Day-to-day activities that i would create using imagination, time management, and most importantly incorporating the core values of the YMCA, being; Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, and Caring. The most enjoyable part was being able to have fun with the kids. The most difficult part was creating boundaries with the children, from things that happened in their household, to gossip amongst each other, to teaching them the value of personal space. However, all in all it was a great experience.
