I thoroughly liked my job at the post office! I accidentally dropped that 75 lb. box of chains on my foot, and I couldn’t walk! I found out that I had RSD, reflex sympathetic dystrophy in my right foot, and that was a permanent injury! Yes, I did receive benefits from the postal service until the beginning of this year, and yes, I do think that I am perfectly capable of doing a job where I can sit and be off of my foot! There are several jobs that require you to be in a sitting position and I do wish that I could be rehired by the postal service so that I could have the exceptional benefits and pay that they offer!!! I am a type 1 diabetic and it is Avery bad taste of diabetes! And I definitely need need the benefits that they offer! Because there are not many places that offer benefits when you work for the company!
Busy and very productive. I've learned sorting bulk mail and separating zip codes. Management was great. The work culture was good. And the hardest part of the job was lifting heavy mail, and the most enjoyable part was playing games.
I worked for the P.O. for 20 years. The key to lasting long is don’t trust anybody. You can socialize but keep your personal business to yourself. This place is not about how hard you work but how you get along with the supervisors. Also know your rights on the job get close to a union rep because management will try to write you up for anything under the sun. The benefits and job security is good.
