25 years as a Postal carrier. 90% of managers were brutal. Expect you to constantly make $1.00 out of 99 cents. If you can stand the harassment you can have a good life. Pay is outstanding. It should be because your going to be working in all kinds of weather. No excuses. The Postal Service takes their mandate to deliver the mail very seriously. People like to joke about the Postal Service. But it is no joke. Those who use the term “snail mail” have never worked there. They have no idea what it takes to work in wind chills of -45 (January 1985) or heat that is awful. They don’t know about how the Dogs are a very real threat(I have the scars) or how getting stung by bees, slipping in mud&ice, twisting your ankles, getting soaked by rain etc. On the positive side, customers are wonderful.
Your there for the birth of their kids as well as the death of their spouse and all that occurs in between.
You are a very close part of so many peoples lives. It is so much more than just delivering mail. Benefits are outstanding!

Too much overtime, too much management, not enough work staff, killing morale and service.

Management has long been the postal services problem. Practices including willful ignorance of regulations, racism, nepotism, and job creation for personnel non grata are commonplace. Adherence to safety regulations is subject to management discretion. Those who try hard are taken advantage of. Those who do their job as described are considered lazy. Those who can't do as much but give it everything they have are targeted and black labeled. Management has had no choice but to recruit non career employees into management because most career employees know the insisted-upon standards and practices are detrimental to morale, service, and profit.

No work-life balance, unfair treatment
Mail processing Clerk (Volt alkalmazott) –  Dallas, TX2019, szeptember 19.
Not able to have a life oitside of work. Schedule is 6days straight with 10hour shifts. Its caused me to have depression & anxiety. Unfair treatment of lower ranked employees. "Regulars" pass all the work off to lower ranks and supervisors allow it.
