Go in every day knowing what you'll be doing, though not necessarily how long. Depending on work area, either hope for a good partner, or find a way to entertain yourself for the next 8-12 hours. Leave any frustration from that day at the door as you leave.
Union representation, adequate pay, mostly good coworkers
Management often doesn't understand how to keep employees happy, allow maintenance to fix the machines right, management favors bubblegum and duct tape repairs
Rural carrier position is a fun position, it is a stressful job due to large rural carrier routes. Things I'm learning at this job are different streets and areas of the city in which I live. Work atmosphere is fun and educational.
Decent job if you are young, don't wait until after you are 40 to start carrying mail, pay is decent but not worth the work strain, management is amazing...at my office anyhow, I could not ask for a better boss!!!
