The postal service is only in business because they have a monopoly on mail delivery. If other companies could deliver mail, the USPS would have been out of business decades ago. They lose money every year, and yet nothing has changed. They hire people that can't even speak English. Basically, they will hire anyone that has a pulse. Management consists of idiots that couldn't get a job elsewhere. They are dumb as a stump, and have no idea on how to interact with employees, as well as the public. I could go on and on, but i won't. Do yourself a favor and find a real job. The USPS has become a haven for a rare breed of people.
When you start as a letter carrier, your life is at the post office. You have zero time off (including Sunday’s) and work until management says you can leave. You will make great money but not have much time off. You will have to wait until someone retires for you to move up to become a “regular”. Then you’re going to do the same route every single day, over and over. You will also only have 8 weekends year .
I worked at multiple locations and everyone is miserable. They hate their job and that take it out on each other. I was constantly put down and treated horribly. I went home upset every night and dreaded the next day. If finally became too much and not work the money.
