Young and Fun atmosphere with free lunches, ping-pong, regular meetings with candidates. However, there is little room for error or doing things your own way. The unspoken expectation is 50-60 hour work weeks and you often bring home work as well. Great for those who are sales-driven and social, not great for individuals seeking a job that is good for family life or consistency.

Decent job compared to most staffing companies

A typical day at TEKsystems starts with you connecting with your direct Account Manager and Sales Triangle at 7:45AM to go over your sales/sourcing strategy for your aligned requirement for the day. At 8AM your entire office gathers together at the Red Zone board which holds every single piece of business we have actively open. There we discuss the status of each of those positions and candidates. We will review strategy and positioning as needed.

From there you will begin going through your call sheet that you have made the day/night prior with at least 30 candidates you have sourced through our CRM System, LinkedIn, CareerBuilder, etc. in order to hit your daily goals of calls. You typically would like to speak to 5 new people that day that are actively looking or open for new opportunities. Other than your calling people for your aligned requirement, you will also be responsible for vetting out current candidates built up in your pipeline through their references and technical assessments.

If you have a candidate with fully completed references that speak to the requirement you locked them down on, you must then sell them to the Account Manager who qualified and is working with the client that the requirement came from. From there, you can prep the candidate and walk them through the rest of the process until an offer is made and they walk through the door on their first day of work.

Your day should be coming to an end around 5PM where you will connect with your Account Manager to review your numbers and day. You'll then discuss what direction you should go in the
  több... next day in regards to what requirement to work on next. From there, your final action item is to make your call sheet for the next day to find the ideal candidates for your next day's focus.

I've learned tons about recruiting, IT, and what these large companies we serviced are doing. I do believe management can be terrible with micromanaging and mixed messages, but that's mostly because management don't have management skills, but are sales people.

It's a very young environment. Most people are in their 20s. They play loud music all day (usually inappropriate music that candidates can sometimes hear over the phone). People celebrate a loudly in the office. It can be very distracting.

The hardest part of the job is the fact that not only are you managing people (that can be unpredictable), but also not being able to push back yourself to clients when they don't want to give an offer to your candidate. You will have to rely on your Account Manager who may or may not care dependent on how many other candidates they have from other recruiters in the office.

Best part of the job is the amount of knowledge and experience you will receive. It's also great that you can expense every coffee and lunch you have, plus the mileage it takes for you to meet individuals. I think it's a great job to start in, but not a place for long-term opportunities unless you get lucky or become a slave to your job.

Great place to work! Awesome commission structure. There is literally a ping pong table in the office as soon as you walk in. Co-workers are awesome and management give you all the tools to succeed. Very high paced sales and metrics driven environment.

This was by far the best up and coming company when i worked there 15 years ago, They were always training you and making sure that you were advancing if you were interested in doing so. There are not many companies that do that.

overall great experience, better suited for someone out of college. However the company promotes from within and provides a great training program. I'd recommend for those who are getting started in their career not ideal for someone 5 or more years in their career

Certain aspects of working at TEK were great; leadership was outstanding, the environment was fast paced and collaborative and everyone was extremely helpful. That being said it's certainly a grind and I often found myself working close to 12 hour days, responding to e-mails and texts when I was home, and sometimes being held responsible for things completely out of my control. The biggest issue was the amount of work leading up to a submittal, which is outstanding for the client, makes life a bit easier for management but was very difficult for recruiters. The work day was free to be structured however you'd like, but there's generally a formula for success.

TEKsystems is an amazing place to work. I have been with the company for more than two years and I can honestly say it has been the best job. Now, keep in mind that his is not by any means an easy position / job. On average I would work about 53 Hours a week.

This company will push you to be a better person and professional. The company is built on culture and helping to develop those around you while reaching your own goals.

No work life balance, terrible management. They take people who are decent in sales and put them into director level positions, with little to no training on personnel management or leadership and expect them to positively impact your career. Most people who have been with the company for more than 2 yrs are so indoctrinated they expect you to give up all other aspirations for your life and career and just live the Tek Model. The company is designed to take people fresh out of school who have no life experience and shape them into thoughtless sales people so the company can make more money. no outside the box thinking, high pressure sales tactics to under cut consultants, and when they use you up they will spit you out and hire the next generation
