IAD is one of the worst stations.

Kiemelt Indeed-értékelés

Az Indeed által kiválasztott leghasznosabb értékelés
OAI as a whole was not terrible but could be much better. IAD as a station is absolutely terrible and all starts with the Lead that should have never been a lead to begin with. He has no experience; incapable of training new employees instead tells them to figure it out while; and will use his position to punish employees. The manager won't do anything to fix the situation because he is to worried about confrontation. He could be a decent manager if he had proper support but the lead is NOT interested in supporting the success of the station. Management in Tulsa are supportive but don't know how bad the station really is. If they would demote or let the lead go this station could be decent. rest of the staff are good and helpful but are to content with the situation to step up and get things corrected. Be warned before taking any offer from OAI, until the leadership at this station is changed it’ll continue to be a revolving door.Day usually starts by sitting around for 2 hours then having to rush to get everything done before scheduled off time.

Pro érvek

The manager will work with you if you need time off. Downtime, followed by rushing to get work done.

Kontra érvek

Pay not commensurate with work, Benefits are terrible, Station leadership Lack of vacation time

Great if you want to see the world!

Good job for someone who wants to see the world- you will travel internationally from day 1 as a flight attendant. Pay leaves something to be desired, but hopefully that will improve with our new contract currently being negotiated. Extremely long work days, but you'll only get paid for a fraction of the hours you're actually on duty (that goes for any airline, not just Omni.) Be prepared to be out of the country/away from home 19+ days a month. It's a great opportunity for someone who doesn't have a ton of bills or attachments (significant others, family commitments, young children, etc.) Keep in mind that this is a lifestyle, not just a job.

Pro érvek

Travel, you get to keep airline and hotel points for personal use, you can often manage to get 10-11 days off in a row each month

Kontra érvek

Management seems out of touch at times, pay isn't great, and it's hard for someone who has a family at home as you'll be gone most of the time

I've really enjoyed this job....

I've been a captain at OAI for over two years. I love being "home based" and getting a block of 13 days off every month. Aircraft are old but well maintained. Cabin appearance / maintenance could be improved. The company has a strong safety culture and respect for regulations and industry standards. The operation is well organized as far charter airlines go (I've worked for several). Crews work and get along well together. The pilot's contractual pay and working conditions are OK. They were stellar when this contract was signed, but the industry has far outpaced the current contract. The company and union are in new contract negotiations now. Crews can make a lot of money by working days off. I don't do that because I want to have a life, but I'm often shocked by how much some people make by selling their days off back to the company. I have no complaints. There are things that could be improved, but nothing serious.

Terrible Place to work

Management is awful. Working there is like being in high school. If you are too friendly they will pick on you. I worked 80 hour work weeks and I was required to travel. 8 hours in Germany and then a 16 hour flight back home. I was doing work that was not in the parameters of the job description and would not recommend applying here.

BE WARNED Lead makes IAD station intolerable

Omni as a whole wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t have certain people at IAD to deal with. Every day starts with sitting and doing nothing just so that it turns into overtime to get the job done. Person in charge of OT will cherry pick who gets OT though. Don't hire outside of the company for anything more than entry level even if the options aren't good. The pay isn’t worth also picking up and cleaning up after the food and grease messes that are made. Not enough pay in the world. Assignments are given out based on your personal standing not skill level. If you don’t know how to do a task, ask another mechanic because the trainer doesn't know. The station manager is a good guy will try to work with you if you need something, but he can’t succeed because of the structure on station. The next in line wants his job and If that happens quit instantly. Station manager needs someone who can foster a productive work environment but that’s not what he has.Omni is very old school, everything is paper minus the work sent to you in an email that will get missed because it should have a proper way to allocate work. The parts control system is abysmal and don’t ever hope to get parts unless it’s critical. No record keeping for log books so no such thing as defect tracking. Oh they keep them but in some back office in Tulsa, no entering the data into a computer. If you need the job/experience take it, get a little time just watch your back because you’ll be stuck doing the worst jobs all in the name of “training”.

Pro érvek

Flexible schedule, usually 1 weekend day off

Kontra érvek

Pay not commensurate with doing two peoples job, benefits are not good, lead

First Time flight attendant

The company itself is great and I believe that it has some potential to improve. However, some employees are not professional they try to act like a boss and try to humiliate people in front of everyone. I have a high expectations that’s not met on my first flight, if you have something to say to someone pull them aside to talk to like an adult and not like a child your scolding very unprofessional, the senior flight attendant supposed to teach and if there’s a mistake it’s part of the learning processes everyone has to start on something you cannot expect the newbie to do it perfectly and get mad at them if they don’t most people in this company quit not because of the company itself but because of the people they’re working with.

Absolute worst Management and HR

It's the absolute worst Management, all departments. This company seriously does not care about you. From trying to find loop holes in the contract to unfair and inconsistent discipline, they are by far the worst company I have ever worked for. The Union is pointless and a waste of $50 a month in dues. More flight attendant jobs have been lost than saved from Union misrepresentation.Working for Omni is like being in a relationship where you have no respect, no money and in constant fear of being disciplined. There's a reason why they're always hiring and it's not a good one.

Pro érvek

You fly military troops all over the world, International destinations, making friends with fellow crew members

Kontra érvek

Management, Hr, Below Average Pay, Long duty days, Constant Mechanical Issues

Fun places

Great opportunity to see the world. Extremely long duty days can leave you exhausted though. Desperately needs a better contract and higher pay. Very high turnover rate.
Hasznos volt ez az értékelés?

Nope

Low pay. Weird culture. Horrible “seniority-obsessed” coworkers. Long days. 0 work life balance. Unfair scheduling. Useless union. Unorganized. Company is always short staffed but fires people over hearsay. Unprofessional.

What is the best part of working at the company?I got to travel all over the world… What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Nothing I can think of during those 8 years…. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?I enjoyed it and would go back in a heartbeat. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Greeting our passengers, making sure they were comfy and full when they got to their destination.

Do not work here

This company does not care about its employees. Horrible work life balance. No vacation time the first year. Save your marriage and do not work here.

Great to work for this company! Travel all over the world. Great co workers. Long days sometimes but the work is easy. Try to get out on layovers…..

OAI is good, IAD is not. Could be better with better Lead Mechanic

OAI is a good company. Everyone is very nice in Tulsa and more of a family environment. As far as the IAD station it is not good. The work isn't bad and the station could be good but the main issue is the Lead. No sense of urgency to get work done so nothing gets done until its already a rush. While employee's are working and getting task done he'll be walking around making messes. Lead doesn't train new employees instead pushing this off on other employees making your workload even more. The manager enables this in order to keep everything in station and not let HQ find out. Things would probably get better here if they could get a better lead but the lead and manager don't work together which makes for an uncomfortable environment. BWI is not far away and would be better for you.OAI as a whole is good but very antiquated. OAI loves work by email and everything is in paper but that is because the company is small and couldn't shoulder the expense. Use it as a stepping stone to something better. Just beware the Lead and you will do just fine.

Pro érvek

Manager wants to be everyone's friend so he works with guys on start times and time off

Kontra érvek

Pay is good for the workload but not for dealing with the Lead, 2 weeks vacation time limits what you can do with having a life

Managers and Higher Ups are all that matter

Omni isn't a bad place to work but if you aren't a manager or higher up, your opinion is invalid. Managers avoid problems which lead people to quit because they don't want to deal with the issue.

Our department gets 3 days off . which is great.

Our department works 4 days for 10 hours . So we get 3 days off which is really nice. Working at a desk is nice and relaxing. there is a ping pong table downstairs .

Long hours and little rest

Only do this job if you don’t need much sleep or money. You will travel to places you typically would never go to. You will be fired over being a human and sleeping while on reserve. No second chances here. You are only a number and replaced in a heartbeat.

Pro érvek

Days off

Kontra érvek

Long hours, lots of waiting time where you don’t get paid.

Omni Sucks worst Management

No Leadership, Management does not care. They just want the airplane fixed. They don't care as long as it gets done. Worst company Ive ever worked for.

Kontra érvek

The day I quit Happy day!!!!

Stay Away is my best advice

Inflight management is awful. Not supportive, do not promote a positive work environment, absolutely cannot trust and respect Inflight Management. Charter contract flying does not promote longevity and work life balance. Apply with major carriers and scheduled carriers.

Pro érvek

Some international destinations.

Kontra érvek

Pay, awful working environment, unsupportive management structure, long periods of duty time/reserve 3-6 weeks.

Work Envious Is What You Make It

Great company to work for for short-term goal in aviation or if you’re single and have minimal personal obligations! Work hours depends on where you are based within the company.

Pro érvek

See the world

Kontra érvek

Can’t pick up trips
Hasznos volt ez az értékelés?

Only good if you’re in it for the destinations

This company has given me the opportunity to travel internationally and that is the very best thing about it! If you have priorities at home this isn’t the job for you, it is never guaranteed that you’ll be off work for specific days. you will be in dream locations for layovers sometimes but unless you have volunteered and worked your days off.. good luck trying to pay for taxis or food while you’re there!

Pro érvek

Traveling to other countries and amazing passengers

Kontra érvek

Overworked, underpaid, overlooked, under appreciated
