You have a start time but no finish even though it says your shift is 8-10 hours. The quotas they place for pickers and other workers on machinery is not logical or sustainable over the long hours you work every day. Theres no empathy to the shift you work and having a personal life or health issues. If you dont have vacation, nothing is excused as far absences. No holidays off and most times you work weekends or 6 days a week. No way or real incentive to move up within the company.

Long hours good people

Forklifts start their day off early every day which wouldn't be bad if you got out on time which never happens. The hardest part of the job right now is dealing with the new computer system in place and supervisors who don't have a lot of experience. Despite all the flaws, there are some great people that you will meet and work with there.

What is the best part of working at the company?I worked for Mclane Inc for a short while and I have to admit it was one of the best working environment I have experienced in a long time. I operated a reach truck but what made the experience great was management. They really cared about their employees. I was injured while lifting a pallet for underneath a rack and tore a lower abdominal muscle and through my right leg. They were very good to me and my family when I left due to the injury and said to me I could back anytime I wanted and take of myself. I did heal but since then my whole life has changed but I will always remember Mclane Company as one of the bestWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company?Making the quota and I did notice some of the drivers did not rotate the stock in order to make their quota. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?It was wonderful everybody I encountered worked hard and was always able and ready to help another out when ever possible What is a typical day like for you at the company?I am no longer with the company but when I was there I was a very detail oriented employee and was complimented on efforts by those who were in charge.

It is getting better

When I started, the environment was toxic and racially charged. There is a vast majority of one race and they let people slide on rules based upon that. However, things are improving. It just takes time, I guess.

Poorly maintained equipment

My forklift was leaking hydraulic fluid for well over a month, despite notifying supervisor and mechanics regularly. They were also short with forklifts, so during the shift change many folks are standing around waiting a lift to free up.

10 hour shifts

Very boring hard work that’s very busy. 10 hour shifts at the time I left. Second shift started at 1:30pm and I wouldn’t leave till after 10pm or later. There were days when they didn’t finish picking till 3am.

Repetitive

It's the Same thing everyday. You won't be surprised when you get to work. You know what you're up against when you get there. I worked in the Freezer, An we would get a pick list every morning. We'd have to scoop a stack of Pallets, Take them into the Freezer an go isle to isle stacking pallets of Food till you got about 6' high. Wrapped them in plastic, Brought the stack out to the Dock where another person would QC an make sure you're counts were correct & then that dock worker loaded it onto a trailer.

Always able to advance and learn in a different area. Able to travel to another center who needs help., with extra pay and accommodations.

What is the best part of working at the company?Supportive, friendly environment, team work, everyone helps each other and accepts each other with respect. Great place !!What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Clocking in and out within a two minute time. Also if you don’t work your whole shift no matter due to sickness or unforeseen road accident and you are late, all the above means a day absent and you are written up. Even if you work 6 out of 8 hrs that day. ;(What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Awesome . Very healthy. Safety awareness always a factor. Company always giving employees appreciation food !!What is a typical day like for you at the company?Fun. Busy. Three quarters of the time, great music playing! :)

I was terminated while I was under my doctor's care. They claim to have family values but it's only the Mclane family that matters to them. They give no incentive to continue working there for more than five years other than vacation time. You will remain making the same pay as someone who has been there for 4 years.

Fellow employees are great but the Management is horrible

Working for Mclane warehouse has some amazing perks as in the amount of time they award you for years of service working there but the downfall is they don’t allow you to use your time or make you feel guilty when you do try to request any PTO that you worked for and earned. The management belittles intelligence in the employee workforce and treats you like a number when most of the management doesn’t understand the basic job functions that you as an employee do on a daily basis to complete your job functions. The also are constantly changing SOPS to their benefit that leaves a lot of the employees in the dark about a change until they get hit with a n unjustified write up

physically demanding and odd work schedule, pay can be better for people that had been working for years. But great job security as it is always busy.

Not for young people

The older people would critic and judge you until you quit. Majority of the people there are rude and always micro manage you. The training is terrible but some of the supervisors don’t want to assist you into learning your job more. If you’re young, you’ll do better working somewhere else.

One of the most toxic work places there has to be.The turnover rate is ridiculous due to the fact it's about putting bodies in a position and not the quality of the worker.Unbalanced hours where the ore experienced workers are "forced" to do most of the work load.Management cares nothing about the workers just the work.A work place that does not promote any sense of pride in the workplace but basically destroys the moral of the good workers.So basically a place to get hired of your need immediate funds until you find better.I could go on and on but in summary stay away unless you don't mind stress,long hours and frustration.

Outdated Work Style

This division has undergone a lot of change in the last few years and most for the worse. There is a no real benefit to being a member of the team for longer than 3 years. The starting pay was raised recently, but the senior pay was not raised to match. It seems that the company is more interested in new unskilled laber rather than teammates that have been established and understand the process
