Very very toxic

This was the 2nd worst job I’ve ever had. I became a driver thru the grow your own program. I was forced to work my off days. Schedule changes at the last minute. Work life balance was basically a 0. If they don’t like you or you’re not 1 of their favorites they will target you and write you up for dumb reasons. 1 of the highest turn over rates I’ve ever seen for a company. More than half of the management team don’t even have Cdls and like to show you drive cams and tell you how you should be driving. A lot of bullies work at this company. Had coworkers cussing me and also threaten to beat me up. I didn’t even like half the people I worked with. There is also coworkers that will act nice to your face and then talk bad about you behind your back. A lot of two faced people work here. Very very toxic work environment. They only good things about this place are pay and benefits.

You work for your money

There are other delivery jobs that won’t stress you out. If you have to go to different cities (Charlotte to Raleigh = 2 hours) (Charlotte to Fayetteville = 2.5 hours) then you still have to work a 11-13 hour day then drive back to Charlotte when done. The job itself isn’t hard. Just exhausting.

It's not for everyone

You must be ok with no schedule for sometime and that might depend on your luck and networking. Also they pay well but you are gonna earn your money it's driving and unloading work.

Productive and fun place

Great place to work. Lots of lots of work, but it is great. Would highly recommend new drivers are welcome. There are some things that I don’t like some things I do I highly recommend.

Not bad at all no place is perfect

The pay is good You will be home everyday it’s not perfect I don’t think any company can be. if your new you will be on extra board until a route is available. Also it is a physical job you will unload trailer at stores not bad when u get use to it.

The job is what you make of it.pay is good but you will earn it. Management is ok could be better. Warehouse is ok but some nights loads be bad and makes for extra work. All night routes.

great people all around

Good company to work for that will work with you all the way. Will send you to school to get cdl and help you to get where you want to be. Hard work but you will get use to it.

Hard work but good money

You work long hours leaving out at night and returning the next day, sometimes the next night. Have to deal with ramps that are in poor condition. Starting off you will have to deal with being on extra bored until you can work your way to getting your own route

Good place to work for good pay but you have to know how to manage your time so you can get to your delivery on schedule. Management was good and easy to contact

Lack of communication between management and employees as to how things are to be done.There is a lack of support, and the culture is not good.You're very inspirational and give the team excellent motivation to achieve our goals

Easy Foodservice job, but no work when you’re on extra board

Easy Foodservice job because of the lift gate. They hire to many drivers and offer a signon bonus to get you to stay. To stay busy I did back hauls and shuttles which didn’t even pay $200/day. If I could have stayed with work I would have retired there. I called every morning for a route the next day and they put me on call.

Great place to work. Always treated fairly and extra work was always available. Early morning though day time at the oklahoma groceryside, with shuttledriver positions available and options to switch around job titles

Has gotten better

Get your experience and leave. Not a bad job by far but it is laborious and can leave you stressful and tired. Driving is the easiest part and if you aren’t ok with manual labor, find a driving job.

Labor intensive, good for the young and inexperienced

If you think manually hand delivering 30k of dead stacked freight on a daily basis and working all hours while putting up with ghetto attitudes, then this is the place for you. If making money is more important than time off, rest and recovery, then this is the place for you. If you like drowning in your sweat and living sleep deprived, this is the place for you.

Gave Me My Life Back

There are a lot of reviews out there that go both ways. For me McLane was the breath of fresh air that I needed. I work out of a drop yard of McLane Midwest in Northern Illiois and parts of Wisconsin. McLane has been the first job in local trucking where I didn't want to leave after a couple months. My managers are trusting and respectful and my small team of drivers are fun and hard working.I was working 2 jobs 7 days a week and now I only work 4 and make more money than both combined. Although McLane runs days and nights I have been able to be home everyday, and get the rest I need to recover before heading back out. The work can be physical but it's a team route so together my partner and I get it done. Some days are only like 8.5 hours and some days are 12+ but I always have fun and trying to back these 48s and 53s into these small c stores is a thrill in itself. I'm making the most money I've ever made, having fun, getting some exercise and driving big trucks with a huge company that really poors into your retirement. You do your job and McLane makes sure your stay!
