I'm a student, and needed a part time job. Came into Lowe's when they were doing open interviews. When I spoke with one of the managers about my hours, I told him that I couldn't work weekends because that's when I do my homework. I work in the morning, and go to school in the afternoon. He said that if I didn't work weekends, I wouldn't be hired. I needed a job, so I had to take it. He basically black mailed me because he knew I needed employment.
When they put in your work experience, the computer spits out a pay rate based on it. The hr lady then leans over to you with the computer and points out your hourly rate and smiles like you've won a gold medal. FYI, you would earn more at McDonald's.
I am not okay with companies taking advantage of people. Lowe's doesn't want to help you. Their idea of "working with students" is to take advantage of them, and pay them basically nothing because they know that people need to eat.
They also say that all employees and all customers are thieves, and to watch everyone. And that the business is more important than you and what happens in your life. I understand having to run a business, but flat out saying that your life is unimportant is a bit much.
Unfortunately I still work here. Life of a college student paying and working their way through school. I won't work at McDonald's because I can't stand the smell or the food.
Terrible pay, poor management, poor community, takes advantage of students and people, lies about how "great Lowe's is"
