Not a Happy Place Unless you Thrive on Stress

Can't speak for the other tech groups, but mine was a nightmare. Extreme mircomanagement, stuck in the weeds, decades of technical debt, long hours, no personal life, no gratitude for sacrifices, positive feedback extremely rare. Lots and lots of constraints, rules and penalties; typical of working in a heavily regulated financial institution.
A fear-driven culture.
Pay was somewhat below-market.
Health benefits were outstanding.
Titles are the typical "everyone's a VP" joke that you find in financial institutions. The technology job title hierarchy (with industry equivalents in parenthesis): Analyst (junior developer), Associate (mid-level developer), Vice President (senior developer, team lead). After that, there's like a 20-year gap until the next title, which is Managing Director (vice president)
