Who We Are
Genentech is a biotechnology company dedicated to pursuing groundbreaking science to discover and develop medicines for people with serious and life-threatening diseases. Our transformational discoveries include the first targeted antibody for cancer and the first medicine for primary progressive multiple sclerosis.
We became a member of the Roche Group in March of 2009. Roche and Genentech combined their pharmaceutical operations in the United States. Genentech's South San Francisco campus now serves as the headquarters for Roche pharmaceutical operations in the United States. Genentech Research and Early Development operate as a separate business unit within Roche.
We’re passionate about improving patients’ lives and creating healthier communities for all. We foster a culture of inclusivity, integrity, and creativity while boldly pursuing answers to the world’s most complex problems and transforming society.
Each of our employees, regardless of role or title, has the passion and grit needed to work together with the end goal of improving patients’ lives. We pride ourselves on an inclusive atmosphere where diverse ideas, backgrounds, and viewpoints are valued. We invest in our employees, providing benefits and resources to help them thrive at work and beyond.
Our professional fields include Research & Early Development, Product Development, Manufacturing and Engineering, Pharma Technical Operations, Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, and more. Find your fit.
gRED aspires to make fundamental scientific discoveries and to develop these discoveries into first or best-in-class medicines made in the best interest of our patients. We actively encourage creativity, discussion, and leadership among our researchers, welcoming the diverse skills and backgrounds each member brings to the gRED team.
Product Development blazes a trail to deliver differentiated therapies to patients and help conquer disease by conducting global clinical trials, analyzing results, monitoring safety, and working with regulatory authorities. We determine which potential new medicines have the best prospects for development by testing the formulas against specific diseases in the clinic and then guiding chosen medicine candidates through the many precise phases of clinical testing.
Across five manufacturing and distribution sites in the U.S, we create and deliver life-changing therapies for millions of patients. We turn cells into the final medicine, managing all aspects of manufacturing and supply, including quality, engineering, and supply chain.
Our team introduces new treatment options to patients, educates physicians using real-world clinical data, engages lawmakers and patient advocacy groups, and ultimately delivers Genentech's groundbreaking medicines to those who need them.
It isn’t just scientists and clinicians who impact the development of new medicines. From HR to Finance and beyond, our corporate teams help Genentech smoothly run while providing the resources and enabling our team to deliver critical treatments for patients.
