You wasted 4 years in college to work in a call center

One of the worse experiences in my professional career. It’s a call center with heavy micromanagement culture. If you are disabled do not work here they will not accommodate you as it’s not “a business need” and will dump a huge workload on you and not adjust for any life issues such as getting Covid. Also wfh is only once a week to which employees and a meme page had to pester upper management into giving us after they had us in office at the height of omicron and delta. The same thing will probably happen with monkey pox so do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague.

Potential to make excellent money

There is an excellent opportunity to make money at CoStar. The company incentives for top producers is the best I’ve seen. Excellent benefit package. The only downside is that local managers show favoritism and workers can co-workers can be very clicky and cut-throat. If you can get past that you’ll be fine.

Toxic work environment, management is controlled by fear of the higher ups, cold calling for company info. This place is capitalism at its finest with a bow. Doesn’t matter how hard you work, if you’re not a favorite you wont get far

Good pay and benefits with a decent work/life balance, but unrewarding job calling people who don't want to speak with you.

The job is not as much a research position as it is a call center (they won't acknowledge as such) position. Everything is metric driven and you are pushed to call "clients" (often times they do not pay for anything, especially when you first start) on a level that borders on harassment at times. The enjoyment of your day really depends on the manager you have and whether or not they micromanage everything. There are some good people that you'll enjoy working with, but ultimately burnout and turnover are very high. The pay and benefits are pretty good and you never need to take any work home (managers do).

No room for growth

Run. Not a lot of room for growth. The job has no job security. The job hires employees to do projects and then phases out the department. Look for a better job somewhere else.

Toxic Work Environment

-Pay and Benefits are good but they will certainly try to curb your commissions without offering a comparable salary-Executives are verbally abusive and play favorites-They will also immediately turn on you at the drop of a dime-Culture is very immature and cutthroat-They constantly push Covid regulations but claim to have your safety and waste your PTO when they've risked exposure-Known to shut down teams instead of nurturing their growth-Most of the systems are convoluted and hardly function-Communications are terrible

Incompetent Mangement and complete disregard for employee mental health

Never before, have I worked at a company that places such little value on its employees. When management is incapable of performing the job for which they are managing this only leads to a recipe for disaster.

The top management is toxic. My immediate mangers were great but then the people at the top would make up these crazy requirements. You could tell the managers did not agree with the process but it was there job to in-force it. Only good thing was the benefits, not including the food there were bugs in the salads.

But has proven to be the worse. Wolves in sheeps clothing. Can make great money until they flip flop in everything regarding pricing, territory, rep tenure, etc.

This place is almost a parody of what a toxic work environment is like but unfortunately no one is joking and this isn't a tv show. Micromanagement is the norm, no WFH exceptions

Creature Comforts are nice

Really Good work environment with a strong team and good people. A lot of people though so it's easy to get lost in the shuffle. Also the cafeteria food was just okay.Oh they did just remove me from the property randomly over a cough but it was during covid. I didn't get paid for it though, im still salty about that.

Great place to start career after college if you have no experience. This is a place where you get in and get out after a year or two. Teams are heavily micromanaged and research roles must hit metrics. Do your time, gain experience, learn some valuable skills, and then move on to the next job.

Great place to build a professional foundation

I loved working at CoStar. Unfortunately that love was not reciprocated when a member of my family had cancer and I was not allowed to work from home and provide care. I had to choose to go on unpaid FMLA to keep my job or work from office. There was no grey area for this policy and the manager did not care. The CEO made a hard stance and people like me fell through the cracks.

The CEO is the worst. Stay very, very, very far away.

I've never worked somewhere that is so over the top metrics driven to the point of suffocating the very will to work out of you on a daily basis. They use these color coded excel spreadsheets to rank employees everyday, week, and month. It's so ridiculous. Absolutely no mutual respect given, you feel like you are in grade school again. If you want to be treated like an adult, stay very, very far away from Costar.

The culture seems fun and lighthearted on the surface

Everyone is overworked, stressed, and held to the same standards even though everyone’s workload is different. You never have time to get anything done.

Fired the whole department on a one days notice. Could of been done better. Call center rep were expected to make 300+ calls a week to leasing agents. Terrible

Only work here if you’re a recent grad fresh out of college. Can't beat the benefits. Growing company that's publicly traded, but still operates like a startup in many ways. Very aware of inclusion here. Pretty disorganized as a whole, but great nonetheless. Progressive founder/CEO. Management can be a little weird and negative, but that's anywhere.

Not worth the stress

CoStar Group pays decently but was not worth the amount of stress. They expect us to go above and beyond and get on our case if we make the smallest mistake. They don’t care about employees at all, forcing enormous numbers of employees to choose to relocate or take severance then forcing those who relocated to reapply?! That makes absolutely no sense.
